In this deeply personal and surreal episode of *Where Did the Road Go?*, host Soraya welcomes guest 36 Dingo—a name that emerged from a traumatic brain injury and medical records misfiled under a cryptic moniker—for an intimate exploration of his life's most bizarre and unexplainable experiences. From a childhood encounter with a colossal, hissing centipede in a muddy driveway to a terrifying night run where the sound of a Predator's footsteps paralleled him on a rain-soaked beach, 36 Dingo recounts a series of events that blur the line between reality and the paranormal. He shares encounters with vanishing crowds in a movie theater, a three-light triangle in the San Diego desert that triggered his wife’s emotional breakdown, a sleep paralysis vision of a shadow octopus, and a chilling moment on an aircraft carrier where his card showed a future date—2017—suggesting a temporal glitch. These stories, many of which he only began documenting after listening to the podcast, reveal a life shaped by subtle reality fractures, synchronicities, and what he calls 'dimensional slips.' Despite the fear and confusion, he reflects on how these experiences taught him to dissociate from panic, assess situations calmly, and cultivate deep gratitude for existence. The episode closes with a haunting sense of wonder, underscoring the idea that the universe may be far stranger and more interconnected than we realize.
Reality glitches—like vanishing crowds, time slips, or impossible sounds—may be more common than we think, but we often dismiss them as imagination.
Traumatic brain injuries and altered states can lead to profound, unexplainable experiences that reshape one’s perception of self and reality.
The brain’s tendency to filter out anomalies (as described in *The Invisible Gorilla*) means we may miss subtle signs of the paranormal in daily life.
Emotional reactions to unexplained events—like fear, disbelief, or even laughter—can be as revealing as the events themselves.
Practicing dissociation and mindful assessment during strange experiences can prevent panic and foster resilience.

Sponsor Acknowledgments & Show Intro

The Origin of 36 Dingo
“I had a head injury... I didn't actually know the story myself. I went back to the hospital to get my medical records and the administrator there was like, I can't find anything under your name. And I was like, okay. She's like, let me check the charge nurse that was on that night. I think I can find her. And then she came back... 'You don't remember what your name that you gave us was?' And I was like, no. What are you talking about? She's like, well, we gave you the first letters of your first name. We said, okay, it starts with a T. And then you said 36. And then we said for your last name, it starts with a D. And then you said Dingo. So we wrote that down because we thought that was pretty close.”
The Invisible Gorilla & the Brain's Filters
“Your brain is less likely to say alien spaceship because it thinks the probability of that is low.”
Childhood Encounter: The Giant Centipede
“It had legs. It had pincers on its head and it hissed at me. But it was probably like a three foot long centipede if it stood up half of its body was a foot and a half...”
The Predator Sound: A Night Run in the Rain
“I'm terrified. I'm running for my life. I never saw anything, but that... and maybe listeners don't think that that sounds scary because maybe it doesn't when you just kind of describe it. But when you hear that sound and it's following you and paralleling you in the dark, it's terrifying.”
“I started laughing and I giggled my way out of it. I just – I literally giggle. I go – because at first I'm trying to scream. For the first like three or four seconds of this, I'm trying to scream and nothing is coming out. It sounds like – You know? Right, right. An embarrassing little mouse whisperer.”
“She's crying. And mind you, we're just walking back like we were just laughing and having fun at Thanksgiving. We're full of food. We're enjoying the evening. There is no reason why she should be crying.”
